As parents of a burned-out student, we saw our child struggle and sought help from a nearby psychiatrist. When we requested an autism evaluation, the psychiatrist declined, stating he was not trained and had to place a referral. The referral was made and the wait time was over 18 months. Our child was evaluated next day, autism and ADHD were confirmed, and we received a 30+ page physician report enabling the school to promptly implement accommodations.
